Hard Working Student

A simple post to brag on CJ's hard work.  The followers of this blog will know that my son suffers from short term memory loss and has a learning disability.  This picture shows 4 weeks of his hard work paying off.   Perfect scores on his spelling tests 4 weeks in a row!!

A bit of sad news:

As written about in earlier posts, CJ took part in "Horse Powered Reading" this summer, a program where they use horses to help kids with reading problems.  On CJ's first night he picked "Dancer" and this horse was one of his favorites through out the summer.  We learned this evening that Dancer became ill and has died.  CJ was sad to hear this news.  He became quite attached to the horses that he worked with.

  1. That is so amazing - congrats to CJ! It just goes to show that no matter the problem, hard work can pay off! What great parenting he must have in order to have the drive to overcome his disability! You should not only be proud of him, but of yourself too! My sister-in-law was in special ed all of her life and was never pushed to try and make something of herself. Instead she learned to use her learning disability as a crutch and still does to this day (she's 23 years old). It drives me crazy that nobody tried to push her to work harder and believe in herself. She's so much smarter than she gives herself credit for. It's so refreshing to see the opposite of this with your son! I know he has no idea who I am, but please tell him that I think what he's doing is awesome and to keep up the great work!

P.S. Thanks for linking up to the GtKY blog hop! :)

    1. Lisa, thank you for your commments! We honestly feel that our job as his parents is to give him the tools he needs to be successful in the future, that included school, sports and anything else that he becomes involved with.

  3. Well done CJ ! That's great news, he must put SO much effort into it. He must be thrilled. Such sad news about the horse. I always used to feel devastated when my pets died when I was younger (even my fish) :-(

  4. There was a student at my competitive high school with a learning disability that got into Dartmouth. He was so happy he sobbed.
